About Phillip Shades
After Phillip graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2003 with a BMus (hons) degree in classical singing, he went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music on the Musical Theatre course, graduating in 2004 with a PgDip in Musical Theatre and the LRAM Teaching Diploma.
His main work lies in Musical Theatre, and has just finished a successful European tour as a guest lead vocalist in 'Musical Knights' directed by Gary Glading for Selection Productions.He has enjoyed performing in theatres throughout Europe and America, regularly performing to up to 2000 people each night. Phillips' vocal versatility and range have allowed him to work in a variety of genres. From the full bel-canto baritone in Operas to the powerful heights of Rock falsetto.
Musical Theatre roles include 'Pirelli' in 'Sweeney Todd' directed by Matt Ryan, 'Emile de Becque' in 'South Pacific', 'Tony' in 'The Boyfriend' and a very interesting run as 'Miss Hannigan' in 'Annie'.
As well as Musical Theatre, he has worked extensively in cabaret throughout the world, performing in venues including Venice, Rome, Barcelona and across Canada and America.
Phillip also is a highly experienced vocal coach and singing teacher. He is in high demand both at Music college level and with professionals. He likes to keep up to date with vocal studies and enjoyed taking part in Masterclasses with established industry professionals, namely Dan Bowling, Mary Hammond, Matt Ryan, Paul Farringdon, Ben Luxon, Cathrine Sadolin and Ann-Marie Speed.
